Town Council approves councillor leave of absence

A special Council meeting was held today, Wednesday, April 26 in response to a Council member’s request for a temporary leave of absence from her duties. Council voted unanimously in support of Councillor Actemichuk’s request.

“Supporting our Council colleagues is important to all of us”, stated Mayor Thorn. “It is also important for our community to be aware that a temporary Council structure will be in place for the Town.”

As this matter is personal in nature, no further details will be publicly shared. Thank you to our Okotoks community for respecting the privacy of our Council members. As always, residents are welcome and encouraged to contact members of Council should they have any questions or concerns about Town governance and policies by sending an email or completing the Council inquiries form at okotoks.ca/your-government/your-council/town-council.

We do not anticipate any disruption to Council meetings, agenda items, or decisions due to this temporary leave. Okotoks Town Council remains committed to serving the community in a thoughtful and meaningful way.
