Okotoks Town Councillor resigns

Town of Okotoks Chief Administrative Officer, Elaine Vincent, has received a letter of resignation from Councillor Cheryl Actemichuk, effective March 21, 2024.

Councillor Actemichuk has made the decision to step down from her role on Council due to personal reasons. Councillor Actemichuk has been a member of Okotoks Town Council since October, 2021.

“I am grateful for Councillor Actemichuk’s contributions to our community and wish her the very best,” says Okotoks Mayor Thorn.

At the upcoming Regular Council Meeting on March 25, 2024, Town Council will have two options in front of them in regards to the vacant Council position:

  1. Hold a By-election
  2. Request a time extension from the Minister of Municipal Affairs which would allow the vacant position to be filled during the next general election, scheduled for October, 2025.
